for the life you share with your dog, even as it changes
The walks.
The routines.
The silly habits.
The grey hairs, everywhere.
And, eventually, the harder parts too.
The Last Woof is about living well with your dog, thinking ahead when things begin to change, and finding your way through goodbye and what comes afterwards.
When things begin to change
There is rarely one clear moment when a dog moves from simply getting older into the last phase of their life.
Sometimes it begins with smaller things: shorter walks, more sleep, difficulty getting comfortable, changes in appetite or behaviour, or the feeling that you are beginning to make more decisions on their behalf.
Thinking about the end doesn’t mean giving up on the life that is still here.
It can mean having more time to understand your options, notice what matters to your dog, talk things through with your vet, and make decisions with a little less pressure.
I offer personal support for people who notice that their dog is getting older, is ill, or may be approaching the end of their life.
Together, we can look at quality of life and comfort, what still matters to your dog, which decisions you may face, and what you can discuss or arrange in advance.
Around euthanasia or a natural death, I can also help you organise your questions, clarify what matters to you, and prepare for what may happen.
And support does not have to end when your dog dies.
Support during your dog’s final stage of life
-
Learning to notice and follow changes, without treating every difficult moment as an immediate decision.
-
Looking at what may help your dog stay as comfortable as possible at home, in daily routines, and together with your vet.
-
Thinking ahead about euthanasia, natural dying, where you would like the goodbye to take place, who you want to be there, and what matters most to you.
-
Making space for the grief that can begin before a dog dies, and for the emptiness, stories and memories that remain afterwards.
Hi, I am Saskia
I created The Last Woof because the ending is part of loving a dog, but it should never become the whole story.
My work sits at the intersection of end-of-life support, stories and design. I’m interested in the choices we make when a life changes, the ordinary details that make someone unmistakably themselves, and how we hold on to those things afterwards.
The Last Woof brings that work specifically to dogs and the people who share their lives with them.
You don’t have to wait until you know exactly what you need.
If your dog is getting older, has received a difficult diagnosis, or you simply want to think ahead before decisions become urgent, you’re welcome to get in touch.
Is something changing with your dog?
Support is available in English and in Dutch.
Online conversations are possible where appropriate.

Alongside your vet, not instead of them.
The Last Woof does not provide veterinary diagnosis or treatment. End-of-life support sits alongside veterinary care: helping you prepare, understand what matters to you and your dog, formulate questions and navigate the emotional and practical decisions around the end of life.
